Mixte

[menswear] The chance to pursue a more avant-garde direction, like these shoots for Mixte, always excites us. We made a point to select talent that understood playful, geometric touches with Josef Albers’ work in mind. Cappello captured unusual silhouettes in front of graphic backdrops, dots, and stripes—as a result, infusing a straight-forward monochromatic menswearshoot with new life.

Double NY cast Anna Van Rubenstein, the daughter of legendary supermodel Pat Cleveland, for Mixte’s fashion well story. The shoot pays homage to Michelangelo Antonioni’s seminal film Blow-Up, and the memorable scene with Jane Birkin amidst a lavender sea of seamless paper. The ever-brilliant prop stylist Chelsea Maruskin took the reference to a whole new level, creating jewel-toned sets made entirely of seamless colored paper.
