Magnus Unnar and Purple’s visionary Olivier Zahm collaborated for the Spring/Summer 08 Collections well shoot in this arresting spread, cross-referencing Helmut Newton and Nobuyoshi Araki in both style and deviancy. To elevate the concept, Double NY solicited help from Paul Sevigny and artist Terrence Koh to shoot over two days at the Beatrice Inn and the black-lacquered dungeon-basement of Koh's Chinatown condo. To keep the model energy high, Double brought in Douglas Perrett's tongue-in-cheek model expertise, and nailed a cast of three wild women. The resulting story makes no apologies for its bold presentation of sex, style, and subversion.

Double NY teamed up with photographer Stacey Mark and model Lydia Hearst in a 20 page ode to innocence lost for Purple Magazine. Perhaps playing the biggest role in echoing the runaway motif was the selected location—the Hollywood Highland Motel —the same backdrop where Stephen Klein infamously shot J.T. LeRoy.
